Jocelyn Ascherl

Jocelyn, a graduate of St. Edmond High School, is currently a senior in Vocal Performance at Iowa State University. She has been in numerous ISU productions, such as starring as Sgt. Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and Despina in Act 2 of Cosi fan Tutte. She was also seen as Marcy Park in Stagewest Theatre Company’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and as Jo March in Judge Story Theatrical Troupe’s production of Little Women. She was recently cast as Lolo in Cedar Theatre Rapid’s production of The Merry Widow, showing in Cedar Rapids in January.

She has also performed as a soloist in Masterwork concerts, such as Mozart’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah with Iowa State University, and Schubert’s Mass in G with the Ames Choral Society. She will finish her studies at Iowa State this December, and is currently applying to graduate schools to continue her career in performance. She studies with Mary Creswell, renowned mezzo-soprano and international opera star Simon Estes.
