Kimberly Fitch

Kimberly Fitch     Kimberly Fitch is a graduate of Ohio University with a BFA in art history, studio art and music. Her master's work was in vocal performance.

     She has been a working artist for the past 16 years as a soloist, dance accompanist and composer. Since moving to Iowa six years ago, she has been a soloist with the Des Moines Symphony for the Beethoven 9th Symphony and the Lord of the Rings Symphony. Kim has been a frequent guest artist with the Westminster Arts Series, in works such as the Mozart Requiem and John Tavener's Lamentations and Praises. She will be appearing in their upcoming production of The Threepenny Opera.

     As a featured artist with the Des Moines Gay Men's Chorus, she gave a full evening tribute to Judy Garland. She is an accomplished jazz musician and serves as vocalist for Hot Club of Des Moines, the Ballyhoo Foxtrot Orchestra, the Iowa Diamondtaires, Soya Vista Orchestra and the John Morgan Big Band. She is currently on the staff of Iowa State Dance Department as an accompanist and a visiting artist at Grinnell College in collaboration with Dr. Eric McIntyre on a new experimental work for voice and treated instruments. Kim is a former fellow of the Smithsonian Institution. She has been an archeological illustrator at the Museum of Natural History in New York City. A recent exhibition of her artwork called "The Chimera" has been on display at the Lift in Des Moines.

     Kim and her husband Chris have an organic farm in southern Iowa where Kim rescues thoroughbred racehorses.
