Amelia Kischer-Browne

Amelia Kischer-Browne   Amelia has sung in various choirs including Opus and All State where in 2007 she was selected as a soloist. She also plays violin with the Northern University High School Orchestra in Cedar Falls. Her first attraction to opera was upon hearing the Queen of the Night in “The Magic Flute” as a child. She starting voice lessons at age 13 with Rosemary Gast, Steamboat Rock, and a member of the Wartburg College voice faculty, Waverly, Iowa.

   Amelia has competed for several years at the Bill Riley State Fair Talent Search, qualifying as a semi-finalist in 2004 and as a finalist this past summer. Other competition highlights include: Iowa Music Teachers Association Pre-College Voice Auditions second place finalist 2004 and 2005, a state alternate for Music Teachers National Association, Iowa National Association of Teachers of Singing first place winner in 2006, and Lewis and Clark National Association of Teachers of Singing first place finalist, Classical Division. She has participated in the Iowa High School State Music Contest where she received a I rating with a perfect score and was named Outstanding Performer/Best of Center in 2007. She was an Overall Winner in both Classical and Musical Theater division at the Heartland Youth Choir Vocal Stars Competition, and was a National Semi Finalist in the High School Classical Singer Competition. She has performed the role of Gretel in the first act of “Hansel and Gretel” as well as the role of Fiordiligi in a second act scene of “Cosi fan Tutte” at the Orpheus Music Festival. Future plans include staging a few more opera scenes at her senior recital and attending either Wartburg or Simpson College this fall.
