Chelsea
is an 8th grade student at Stilwell Junior High School in West Des
Moines. Chelsea started to learn piano at about the age of four.
Currently, she is studying with Dr. Ksenia Nosikova of the University
of Iowa. Before this she was a student of Dr. Chiu-Ling Lin of Drake University.
In March of 2007, Chelsea won second prize in the Music Teachers National Association's National Baldwin Competition in Toronto, Canada. Chelsea has won first places for the Iowa Music Teacher Association piano state competitions, and has appeared on live radio broadcasts of Know the Score and Kansas Public Radio. She was a scholarship recipient to the International Institute for Young Musicians (IIYM) summer camp in 2007. She has also been semi-finalists for the IIYM International Competition, and the Louisiana International Piano Competition. Also, she has been chosen to appear on the radio show - From the Top.
Along with piano, Chelsea also plays the violin and has won the MTNA's Junior String State Competition and 3rd place in the West Central Division in 2006.
