Youth Honors Recital
Auditions

The auditions for the Honors Recital are scheduled on a day on which one of the Fort Dodge schools have an early release, allowing some students to audition early. The auditions will begin at 3:15 P.M. and go until they are completed, which is usually 6 - 6:30 P.M. Students who want a specific audition time should indicate this on the registration blank. Those who can perform before 3:15 P.M. should state a time on the registration blank.

Students cannot compete in more than two areas. Piano and vocal students must have their pieces memorized. Instrumentalists and vocalists must be accompanied unless special permission has been granted in advance of the auditions. Solos are restricted to five minutes. Piano soloists may play more than one number if their pieces are very short.

The length of time should be indicated for all solos and ensembles. This is required for the scheduling of auditions times. There will be someone timing on the day of the auditions and this time will be the one used for the final selection.

The winners will be selected at the end of the audition day and teachers will be notified that evening or the next morning unless different instructions are given.

The winners will perform at the recital on Friday, April 4th starting at 7:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church. The recital will feature all ages and a variety of music.

The registration forms for auditions should be returned to the chairperson by the date specified on the form. Any forms received after this date will have auditions scheduled at the end of the day. There is no registration fee.
